I came across this delightful article which could help you a great deal when looking for Christmas DVDs. As someone who grew up watching lots of television throughout the holiday season I really like how the author captures the essence of Christmas movies:

Apart of Christmas tree, decorations, parties and gifts, there is something that adds a special atmosphere to the holiday season: Christmas movies.

Almost all adults have sweet memories related to a Christmas movie; a movie that remains favorite and have – sometimes just for a second – a special flavour: the taste of childhood.

We are now adults and know that movies related to Christmas create a fun atmosphere and also teach moral lessons to our children.

The author then recommends a lot of Christmas DVDs. I don’t know all of them (definitely will check them out) but I’ll present here the ones I do know:

The Sound of Music

This movie about a woman who leaves an Austrian convent to become a governess to a Naval officer widower isn’t a chistmas movie in the classic sense but it contains a lot of the themes which become important every year at christmas time: family, music, faith etc.

Scrooged

This movie is a modern adaptation of the Charles Dickens tale. A cynically selfish TV executive gets haunted by three spirits bearing lessons on Christmas Eve. This movie is also a nice message that teaches to the world the real meaning of Christmas.

Christmas Vacation

The Griswold family’s plans for a big family Christmas predictably turn into a big disaster. I’ll never forget the scene when Griswold first turns on his christmas lights.

There are many more great recommendations for your shopping of Christmas DVDs. Check out the article and get into the christmas spirit as fast as I did when reading it.
